Join members of DHBT on a cycle ride from Leeds to Derby on the 19th and 20th August to help raise funds and awareness for their project to restore Wingfield Station.
Wingfield Station (Grade II* Listed) is possibly the oldest surviving rural station building in the world, and the DHBT are now seeking support to raise £250k to complete the £1.7m restoration project.
The ride will start from Leeds Railway Station at 9:30am on Friday 19th August. There will be the option to have bikes taken by van.
The planned itinerary:
FRIDAY 19TH AUGUST
9:20am Photoshoot at Leeds Station - leave Leeds at 9:30am
Stop at teashop or one of the historic stations en route
1:45pm (approx 35 miles) Picnic lunch at Wentworth Woodhouse followed by a photoshoot. To leave Wentworth Woodhouse by 3:15pm
6:30pm (approx 55 miles) Arrive at Ibis Hotel, Barlborough
8pm Informal two course meal at Treble Bob Harvester (opposite Ibis)
SATURDAY 20TH AUGUST
8:20am Depart from the Ibis Hotel
8:50am Photoshoot outside Renishaw Hall, where a breakfast reception will be provided at 9am
10am Depart from Renishaw Hall
12:30pm (approx 24 miles) Picnic lunch at Wingfield Station with photoshoot at 2pm
2:15pm Depart from Wingfield Station
3:30pm (approx 35 miles) Arrive in Derby with closing drinks and nibbles at the Brunswick Inn
5pm End
There is a limit of 20 cyclists due to the capacity of the van that will transport the bikes - early booking is recommended. Please book by 20th July.
FEE
The fee for participating in the ride is £220/person. This will be reduced to £190 if you are willing to share a room. If you end up sharing a room after the logistics have been worked through, but have paid the full amount, you will be refunded.
