Building at Risk App Training Supports Heritage Volunteers in Hayfield

DHBT’s Buildings at Risk team recently enjoyed a great day in Hayfield, delivering training on our Buildings at Risk (B@R) app for a group of the Peak District National Park Authority’s Cultural Heritage volunteers.

The session introduced volunteers to the app’s key features and provided practical guidance on how to carry out basic building condition surveys. After learning the principles in the classroom, the group headed out into Hayfield to put their new skills into practice, completing live condition surveys with support from the DHBT team.

DHBT is working in partnership with the Peak District National Park Authority (PDNPA) to trial the B@R app in Hayfield and Edale. The trial will support the monitoring of listed buildings as part of the Authority’s National Lottery Heritage Fund-supported People of the Peak project.

It was a fantastic opportunity to share the knowledge and experience we have gained through developing and using the app, while contributing to another inspiring volunteer-led heritage project. By equipping local volunteers with the skills and tools to monitor the condition of historic buildings, the project will help build a clearer picture of heritage at risk and support its conservation for the future.
