We're currently exploring the potential for a small project to further improve the external areas at Wingfield Station - taking on board advice from Derbyshire Wildlife Trust and thinking about how we can make the outside areas more accessible for visitors, as well as more attractive to wildlife.
Hopefully if we are able to go ahead, it is a project that the local community and visitors to the Station alike can benefit from and find enjoyable.
As part of our research we've been looking at old photographs - including this one, which has come to us via Wingfield Station 1947
Whilst we'd seen images of the crane before, this time we're more interested in the fences and stair rails behind it!
We've also referred back to the great resource of the 1876 site plan.
