This Volunteers’ Week, we extend our deepest thanks to all our amazing volunteers - including our trustees, co-ordinators and pro-bono expert advisors - for the time, skills, and dedication you give so generously!

This year, we also wanted to acknowledge a whole new team of volunteers -our B@R project volunteers!

We are incredibly grateful to every single person that has downloaded the B@R app (developed by our colleagues at the West Midlands Historic Buildings Trust with support from Historic England), surveyed a Grade II listed building as part of the project or attended one of our B@R project events.

A heartfelt ‘Thank You!’ from all of us at Derbyshire Historic Buildings Trust- you are the people who have made this important initiative possible.

Whether you have surveyed one building or hundreds, you are contributing to our knowledge of the condition of the Grade II listed buildings in our county and helping us to work with our local authority partners to protect them.

At the time of writing, our volunteers have surveyed a staggering 651 Grade II listed buildings in Amber Valley and 300 in Derby City. That is 88 and 82 percent respectively - wow!

Dozens of previously unknown ‘Vulnerable’ and ‘At risk’ buildings have also been identified, and we are now able to effectively monitor their condition and take action as needed.

Fewer than one hundred Grade II listed buildings now remain to be surveyed in each of our two ‘live’ local authorities, which is a huge achievement in just over seven months.

This Volunteers’ Week, can you help us get closer to completing these areas?

Below are some locations where small groups of Grade II listed buildings are still left to be surveyed:

-              Alton

-              Belper/ Milford

-              Morley

-              Smalley

-              Kedleston

-              Quardon

Fancy a bit more of an adventure? Why not grab your bike or walking boots and see if you can head out and survey some of the Grade II listed buildings ‘off the beaten track’ too?
