What a fantastic time we had yesterday on our Derby Historic Pubs B@R Crawl — even the rain couldn’t dampen spirits!

We explored 8 pubs and had a special stop at Vernon Gate Gaol (including the Executioner’s Room!) thanks to Peter Milner.

Along the way we uncovered the stories behind Derby’s historic pubs - from The Mixing House to The Dolphin.

Huge thanks to Miles, our University of Derby intern, for leading the walk, and to Richard Felix for bringing Derby’s history to life with his passion and knowledge.

After a soggy stroll via the River Gardens to The Brunswick, Derek Latham gave us a fascinating insight into the 1980s railway cottages development.

We rounded it all off in the best way - sandwiches and a pint!

Made possible thanks to The National Lottery Heritage Fund and National Lottery players.
