Step Back into Derbyshire’s Coal Mining Past - Sunday 10th May, 2pm
Explore the hidden history beneath your feet with the Wingfield Station 1947 group’s Coal Mine Historical Guided Tour.
Hosted by the passionate volunteers of the Wingfield Station 1947 group, this guided walk uncovers over 200 years of coal mining history in the landscape surrounding the station.
From small one-man workings to large scale operations employing hundreds, the tour reveals the stories behind some interesting sites.
The event will be a relaxed 2-mile, 2-hour guided walk. The route will include uneven paths, slopes, one short steep section and stiles.

Parking is available at Wingfield Station (DE55 7LJ), and the café will be open for refreshments before or after your walk.
