It’s hard to believe that our Buildings at Risk project has already been running for eighteen months. In that time, our amazing volunteers have surveyed almost 2,000 Grade II listed buildings and monuments across the county.

All structures in Amber Valley, Derby and Erewash have now been surveyed, and we are down to the final few in South Derbyshire. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who has given their time to help us reach this milestone — and to The National Lottery Heritage Fund and National Lottery players for making it possible.

Continuing the journey

Our next phase will allow us to expand into new areas, deepen our understanding of Derbyshire’s heritage, and take action where historic buildings are most at risk.

Watch this space for more exciting updates soon.

Why resurveying matters

A key aim of the project is to maintain an up-to-date record of listed buildings so we can monitor changes over time and respond where needed.

Each survey includes a ‘Reassessment due’ date, based on when it was completed and the building’s risk category.

Now, some of the first buildings identified back in Autumn 2024 are due for reassessment.

How you can help

Could you help us update our records this spring?

Buildings due for resurvey are marked with a yellow flag in the app - just zoom in to find them.
