It is hard to believe that DHBT’s ‘Buildings at Risk’ (B@R) project has already been active for a whole year!
Since we launched the initiative in Autumn 2024, we have been blown away by the positive response from the local community and beyond.
Here are some highlights from our first fabulous year running the B@R project!
· 702 Grade II listed buildings and monuments surveyed in Amber Valley
· 332 Grade II listed buildings and monuments surveyed in Derby City
· 418 Grade II listed buildings and monuments surveyed in South Derbyshire
· Over 100 previously unknown ‘At risk’ buildings identified
· 6 well-attended launch events in our ‘live’ survey areas to introduce the B@R initiative and train volunteers
· 2 friendly ‘Social Survey Strolls’ bringing together the DHBT B@R team, new volunteers and experienced app users to explore and survey the Grade II listed buildings in South Wingfield and Duffield
· 4 drop-in information and support sessions to spread the word about our project and answer volunteer questions
· 16 1:1 support sessions to help volunteers get up and running and feel confident using the B@R app
· 1 sold-out ‘B@R Crawl’ celebrating Derby’s pub heritage and other aspects of its rich history

All of these incredible achievements have been made possible thanks to our fantastic volunteers and supporters.
A huge ‘Thank you!’ to each and every person who has given up their time to support our project. Whether you have surveyed one building or one hundred, you have made a real difference in helping us to protect Derbyshire’s unique built heritage.

We are incredibly close to reaching 100 percent completion in both Amber Valley and Derby City. To get us even closer to completing the survey in these areas, can you help us to survey the last few buildings?
With your support, we can start the new year ready to take action to protect even more vulnerable historic buildings across the county!

To search for these buildings within the B@R app, simply tap the ‘Layers’ tab at the bottom of the main map page, then tap ‘Listed Buildings’.
A search bar will appear at the top of the ‘Listed Buildings’ page into which you can type a building’s list number.
This will then bring up all the building details and location information that you need to track it down!

It may be that some of these Grade II listed buildings or monuments are not accessible to view from a public right of way. If this is the case, your help marking these buildings as ‘Not accessible’ would still be greatly appreciated. We can then pass this information on to our local authority partners.
If you haven’t yet joined our ‘Buildings at Risk’ project, but would like to get involved to help us reach our goal or receive some support with our exciting initiative, send the team an email to:
We are always happy to provide online support or arrange a 1:1 support session at a time to suit you.
This project is made possible by The National Lottery Heritage Fund and National Lottery Players.
