As promised, we have a very exciting update to share regarding our ‘Buildings at Risk’ project. We have recently shared that thanks to the dedication of our amazing volunteers, every single Grade II listed structure in Amber Valley, Derby and Erewash has now been surveyed and there are only a few remaining in South Derbyshire.
Following this excellent progress and the success of the initiative in providing vital information about the condition of Grade II listed buildings in the county, our local authority partners and Historic England have given us the green light to extend our survey to include Grade I and Grade II* listed buildings as well!
We have been working behind the scenes for some time to make this a reality and we
are now ready for this exciting update to go ‘live’. From Monday 4th May, volunteers will be able to survey Grade I and Grade II* listed buildings and monuments in Amber Valley, Derby and Erewash, where the initial survey of the Grade II listings is now complete.
The survey system for these additional buildings will be exactly the same as for the Grade II listings, with volunteers making notes on the condition of individual building elements, the overall condition of the structure and its occupancy status.
These responses will be used to automatically generate the risk category for the building or monument. This risk category (Low Risk, Vulnerable, Building at Risk) will be identified within the app using the same simple, ‘traffic light’ colour coding system.
To differentiate the Grade I and Grade II* listed structures from those with a Grade II listing, different symbols will be used to identify them in the app. Below is a handy visual guide to the symbols and their meanings:

Remember: To enable this new feature in the B@R app, tap the ‘Sync’ button on the main map page.
We would like to thank our volunteers once again for helping to make this development possible. We are thrilled that we will now be able to gather even more comprehensive information about the condition of listed structures in Derbyshire and work hard to secure their futures.
