Our ‘Buildings at Risk' team were back out spreading the word about our exciting
initiative yesterday afternoon, holding a drop-in B@R project information session at
Darley Abbey Village Hall.
Heritage Development Officer Anna Cluley and DHBT supporter Tanya Spilsbury had
an enjoyable afternoon sharing project information with members of the public,
demonstrating the capabilities of the B@R app- developed by our colleagues at the
West Midlands Historic Buildings Trust with support from Historic England- and
catching up on the latest ‘Buildings at Risk’ project news.
The session proved a fantastic opportunity to meet volunteers, share project updates
and increase awareness of our project. As well as providing direct support, Anna and
Tanya enjoyed the opportunity to share their interest in historic buildings and local
heritage with likeminded people.
Holding the session in Abbey Yard, close to so many beautiful Grade II listed buildings, was an added bonus! Tanya enjoyed the opportunity to revisit the Darley Abbey Stables, which she was instrumental in rescuing over ten years ago. It was fabulous to see this former ‘Building at Risk’ thriving in its beautifully restored condition and bustling with independent businesses. A real B@R success story!
