As many of you know by now, horticulture students from Derby College are in the process of creating a show garden for BBC Gardeners' World Live. Their theme is the restoration of Wingfield Station.
Students are each creating different elements of the garden, which will show both the dereliction and the completed restoration.
We were delighted when Richard Jordan, heritage roofer and technical trainer (who is currently supporting the DHBT to incorporate more training opportunities in our work) offered to give a roof slating session to the students!
Richard advised us, via Historic England, on the approach to the urgent roof repairs at Wingfield previously.
Thank you Richard - and well done to all the students for getting stuck in and doing an amazing job.
