Opportunities at Wingfield Station
Expressions of Interest Invited - Urgent Building Works, Wingfield Station, South Wingfield Derbyshire
The DHBT is looking to appoint a building contractor as part of its urgent works programme at Wingfield Station (Grade II*). The building, which is currently in a very poor condition, is located immediately adjacent to a live main line railway (the Midland Main Line).
The anticipated value of the works is circa £300,000.
The contract will cover the re-roofing of Wingfield Station and the adjacent Parcel Shed, along with associated trackside repairs, some internal works and access improvements to restore the driveway. This contract is the first phase of a two phase reconstruction project to restore the Station buildings and convert them to commercial re-use. The total estimated project value is circa £1M and the second phase will be procured separately following completion of the urgent works.
Experience of projects that involve working adjacent to Network Rail, including a Possession Order (where the safety workers, the general public and the safeguarding of railway operations and equipment are paramount), would be beneficial. This work is grant funded, primarily via Historic England, with additional support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
Due to Network Rail requirements, the contractor must carry £20M Public Liability Insurance or be prepared to obtain it for the duration of the project.
Organisations that are keen on winning the contract are advised to express interest before midnight on the 25th January 2021. From there, a Pre Qualifying Questionnaire will be released to assess levels of experience, technical and professional ability and to gather information relating to capability, capacity, insurance cover and financial standing. Full tender documents will be released to those who qualify, and the contract is expected to be awarded late Spring 2021.
