At our online talk on the 21st February 2021 Kieran Lee, from the Friends of Bennerley Viaduct, talked about 'The Iron Giant that Survived'. Bennerley Viaduct is a wrought iron wonder that was entirely fabricated in Derby. The story included the reasons for building it, the ingenuity of its engineering, the working life of the vidaduct and the Zeppelin bombings. Future plans were also explained. You can watch the recording of the talk via our YouTube channel.
Architectural Historian and DHBT Trustee, Oliver Gerrish, presented the DHBT's first ever online talk on the 16th January 2021. Oliver's talk, 'The Country House in Derbyshire' can be viewed via our YouTube channel.
Events Programme 2019
Our events programme for 2019 has now ended. Please visit our blog for some of the highlights from our visits (including walks/talks at Spital Chapel, Darley Abbey Mills and Ashbourne Mansion House) and social events such as our late summer gathering at Haddon Hall and a festive evening at Lea Hurst, Florence Nightingale's childhood home.
Our Summer School was a great success with people attending from all over the UK. During the week many of the buildings on the DHBT at risk list were visited with attendees learning more about these buildings and methods used to aid their rescue.
